This option, as its name suggests, would maintain the same system of local governance that is in place in Cultus Lake Park today. Cultus Lake Park would remain an independent jurisdiction within Area E of the Fraser Valley Regional District. The Cultus Lake Park Board would continue as the community's primary local governing body, with responsibility for a wide variety of local services. Cultus Lake Park would continue to participate in a range of FVRD services, and would continue to represented on the FVRD Board by the Electoral Area E Director. Responsibility for local policing would remain with the provincial government — decisions for this service would be made, utlimately, in Victoria. Residents of the Park would continue to participate in local governance by voting in local elections, by serving on Park Board committees, and by becoming active in the Cultus Lake Community Association.

No changes to the Cultus Lake Park Act would be expected as a result of residents choosing the Status Quo option. The role currently played by the City of Chilliwack in governance for the Park, therefore, would not change. The status of the Soowahlie First Nation in Park governance would also not change. Similarly, the Park Board would receive no authority with resepct to Soowahlie decisions.
Taxes & Charges
The Sample Tax Notices document lists the taxes paid by five different residential properties in Cultus Lake Park for the year 2008 as well as the amounts that would apply under the Status Quo and Join Chilliwack options. It also lists the taxes paid by five equivalent residences in the City of Chilliwack in 2008.
Values in the above document are also summarized in the Tax Impacts bar graph. The five different residential property values are listed across the bottom of the graph, and the height of each bar indicates the total amount of taxes and charges for each property.
