When a community such as Cultus Lake Park considers joining an existing municipality — the City of Chilliwack in this case — the Provincial Government typically offers a certain amount of financial assistance, during a transition period, to help moderate any local tax increases that may be expected.
It is expected that the Province, later in the study, will put forward an offer of financial assistance for the Join Chilliwack option (no offer assistance is expected for the Status Quo option).
