The Committee's membership has been structured to provide for representation from the Cultus Lake Park Board, City of Chilliwack Council, Fraser Valley Regional District, Soowahlie First Nation and Cultus Lake Community Association. Each of these bodies has a clear and recognized interest in the future governance of Cultus Lake Park.
Brief biographies of the individuals that serve on the Committee are provided here.
- Sharon Gaetz (Committee Chair), City of Chilliwack
Mayor Sharon Gaetz is the Chair of the Cultus Lake Governance Committee. Mayor Gaetz has been serving the Chilliwack community since 1997 — first as a Councillor, and then since Dec 1, 2008 as Mayor. Besides being the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Chilliwack, Mayor Gaetz serves as one of Chilliwack’s Municipal Directors on the Board of the Fraser Valley Regional District, and as an ex-officio member of CEPCO. Mayor Gaetz is a member of the Union of BC Municipalities Executive, and Chair of the UBCM Resolutions Committee. She is a former Chair of the Fraser Valley Regional Library, and has been awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for community service. Sharon is a licensed minister and retired family counsellor.
- Owen Skonberg (Committee Vice Chair), Cultus Lake Park Board
Owen Skonberg is a Retired Public School Adminstrator, serving his second term on the Cultus Lake Park Board as a Commissioner (2 years as the Chair). He has been on the previous Governance Committee, as well as serving on the Chilliwack Tourism Board and represents the Park Board at the Fraser Valley Treaty Negotiation Meetings. His family has owned a cottage at Cultus Lake for the past 10 years and he plans to build his retirement home there in the Spring.
- Patricia Clark, City of Chilliwack
Pat Clark has served as a Chilliwack City Councillor since 2003. During that time she has participated in a number of committees including Tourism Chilliwack, the Chilliwack Agriculture Commission, the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board and chaired the Cultural Centre Advisory Planning Committee. From 1990 to 1999 she was a Chilliwack School Board Trustee. Born and raised in Chilliwack, she is currently employed as the Coordinator of ElderCollege Chilliwack, a non profit society offering non credit short courses to seniors.
- Dave Clyne, Cultus Lake Community Association
Dave Clyne was a 25 year resident of Chilliwack. He has lived full-time at Cultus Lake for 7 years and for a few summers previously. He was Vice President of the Cultus Lake Community Association for 4 years and has been President for the last 1.5 years. He is a retired Chilliwack public school educator with experience in a variety of teaching and administrative positions, including a year as Vice President of the Chilliwack Principals’ Vice Principals’ Association.
- Otis Jasper, Soowahlie First Nation
- David Lamson, Fraser Valley Regional District
David Lamson has lived in the Chilliwack River Valley since 1975 and previously lived several years at Cultus Lake. He is retired from a teaching career of 35 years, 34 of it in the Chilliwack School District. He has been involved for many years in volunteer community work, such as with the volunteer fire department, and in fish habitat restoration work with the Chilliwack River Action Committee. This is his second term as FVRD Electoral Area E Director.

Sacha Peter is a resident of Chilliwack. Elected in November 2008, he
currently serves as Vice Chair of the Cultus Lake Park Board. In his
professional life, Sacha provides research services, accounting and
financial analysis through his small business firm.
